President – Sheldon Brown
Sheldon Brown plays Cornerback in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns. Prior to joining the Browns, Sheldon played for the Philadelphia Eagles by whom he was selected as a second round draft pick in 2002.
Sheldon played college football at the University of South Carolina. While majoring in Sports and Entertainment Management, he was a four-year player. A two-time All-SEC honoree in football, Brown also played baseball for South Carolina during his senior year.
Sheldon has a reputation of being a game changer both on and off the field. In 2006 while in the NFL Divisional Playoff Game against the New Orleans Saints, Sheldon delivered what some analysts considered the hit of the year against Reggie Bush. This landed him on the cover of Sports Illustrated. However, off the field, Brown received a more important award, when in 2008 he was named the recipient of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association “Good Guy” Award.
Born and raised in Chester County South Carolina, Sheldon attended Lewisville High School. Sheldon feels strongly about the area in which he grew up and chose to raise his family there as well. He also realized that there was a need for a direct service program to help high school students better prepare for their future. In 2011, Sheldon created Brown’s Corner, a nonprofit after-school program that focuses on improving financial literacy, parental engagement and college preparation. Sheldon serves as the President of the Board of Directors of Brown’s Corner and is actively involved in every aspect of the program.
